Innovator? Nah..

Apple is perceived by many as an innovative designer. Yet I think that my old IBM notebook is designed better then their latest one. For example look at the keyboard:
Apple new notebook is wider, yet for some reason they still can’t get keyboard layout right. Look at at my X21 keyboard, keys are big, logically grouped. UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT buttons separated from the rest of the keyboard. ESC key is were it is supposed to be.

I wouldn’t call the MacBook innovative, but your ThinkPad doesn’t have a touchpad – it has that damn annoying little nipple in the middle of the keyboard. I think that’s one heck of a design nightmare.
It a personal thingy. I hate touchpads. With touchpads I can’t never point to an exact pixel and sometimes it moves, plus when you are on the road it’s difficult to contol it. On the other hand touchpads and bad keyboard are popular choise for big OEM computers like DELL (and APPLE).
On the other (the first one ;-) hand that little nipple is an IBM tradition, but their new notebooks have touchpads/and red nipples.
I guess even IBM have to go with the flow now.
