AMD 64 and Enhanced Virus Protection

Posted on April 17, 2005

AMD 64 and Enhanced Virus Protection: “All AMD64 processors, including the AMD Athlon™ 64 FX, AMD Athlon 64, AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology and Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processors, are enabled with Enhanced Virus Protection.”

AMD Enhanced Virus Protection with Microsoft Windows XP SP2 enables you to:

* Prevent the spread of certain malicious viruses, which are transported via e-mail and instant messaging applications
* Surf the Internet with confidence, knowing you have an extra level of protection against certain harmful web downloads
* Help improve the integrity of your home and office network

What the fuck? How can a CPU prevent “the spread of viruses via e-mail and instant messaging applications”??? Does anybody have any information about it?
