Every time I open a Software Engineering book in the first paragraph or less often in the first chapter author explains reason to write this book and justifies the existance of Software Engineering profession based on the Standish Group reports.
“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics” Benjamin Disraeli.
Standish Group reports are based on statistics from 100 companies and 500 projects.
“I could prove God statistically.” George Gallup

i always use them to prove my argument, i think i will stop from now on!
