Регенерация
Posted on November 27, 2005
На Ленте в очередной раз увидел: “Стало известно об уничтожении “правой руки” Заркави”
Заебало. Ну сколько правых рук может быть у человека.

I saw a headline “right hand of Al.Z. killed’.
I think it’s the third time they kill his right hand.
So I wonder how many right hands can a man have and how fast he can regenerate them?

Graphs
Posted on November 26, 2005
I want to find a way to include Greek letters and math symbols into graphs. I asked Dr. Grahne (my COMP335 teacher) and he said that he uses pstricks and xfig to produce state diagrams.
Right now I use Graphvis to create diagrams and graph (demo). It’s a nice and simple tool but it can’t put LaTeX expressions into lables.

Mongolia
Posted on November 24, 2005
I love Mongolia. Five star hotels, cows, horses and nice people.
Anyway, this thing caught my eye.
Americans and Mongolians have much in common. Both our nations were settled by pioneers on horseback who tamed the rugged plains.
– Bush
I think this quote and a lot of other in this transcript are quite funny.
The only think I don’t like is Bush remarks about USSR and how horrible it was for Mongolia. First USSR did not let Mongolia become MSSR for their own sake, then helped stop civil war, during Russian Civil War, Chinese occupation of Outer Mongolia was terminated (as a side effect), during the second world war USSR defended Mongolia against Japan. USSR helped build schools, hospitals, roads, sent Mongolians to Universities (some even became cosmonauts). Not bad for “decades of tyranny”.

Why?
Posted on November 23, 2005
Why so many people used maps of U.S in their presentations? It there a secret invasion plan that I am not aware of?
Why in “Job Postings” journal I found job offers only from Tim Hortons?
Why I got full marks for answers that I answered wrong and 0’s for correct answers?

Duke “Asta la Vista” Nukem
Posted on November 20, 2005

I thing I discovered the truth about Duke Nukem Forever. It looks like Microsoft Borg Collective captured 3drealms team to work on their new, high-tech, super duper, cool interface called Avalon.
Just looks at what new Windows Vista (this game will probably be released with Duke Nukem Forever preinstalled) hardware requirements are:
“Any high performance DX9 Pixel Shader 2.0 card will give good results. The fastest PS 2.0 card with the most memory your bank account can afford is the ticket.
Avoid the low-end cards such as ATI 9200 and below, nVidia 5200 and below and go for the high-end X800 or 6800 if you can afford it.”
What I really want to say is that I kinda liked old days when when 20MHz CPUs upgrades were released once a year. When any SVGA card was sufficient, and games were fun.
Oh well.

Free-To-Air
Posted on November 7, 2005
I can’t believe how easy it is to get Free-To-Air TV (or in other words almost free commercial TV). You need to buy FTA satellite receiver that cost ~200$ and cheap antenna. Then you just upload small program over a null-modem to get almost every channel including PPVs.
With Bell and Videotron you have to pay 30 to 40$ every month and you only get a fraction of available channels. (well you also can watch Canadian TV, but I guess it depends on the satellite)
Strange eh? If it is so easy decrypt satellite signal why Satellite TV uses such an easy to break encryption? There are quite a lot of simple encryption algorithms that can be easily implemented for slow CPU’s of the receiver and still provide adequate security for decades.
P.S Now back to COMP335 assignment;-)
